Lahnwanderweg

Hike from the source to the mouth of the river – the soon-to-The marking of the Lahnwanderwegbe completed Lahn Hiking Trail, extending over approx. 270 km, will tap into everything that represents the specific charm of the Lahn Valley: naturally beautiful and varied scenery, medieval castles and palaces, romantic old towns and tranquil villages that are characterised by timber-framed buildings.

Parts of the trail between the source of the Lahn and Limburg/Diez are still under development. The planning phase is concluded and hard work is under way to complete them.

The four current Rhineland-Palatinate stages between Diez and Lahnstein are complete and clearly marked throughout. The trail runs for 65 km along the right and left banks of the river towards the Rhine. However, the trail mainly runs over the peaks of the Westerwald mountains and Taunus hills with the prettiest views over the Lahn Valley.

From Gießen and Wetzlar via Weilburg, Limburg, Diez, Nassau and Bad Ems to Lahnstein and Koblenz, the whole route can be easily accessed thanks to the Lahn Valley Railway that also allows for the planning of individual daily stages. Koblenz and Limburg-South offer ICE train connections.

The Rhineland-Palatinate section of the Lahn Hiking Trail between Diez and Lahnstein that is already marked and complete can be found at www.lahnwanderweg.com
